How to Import and Grade Existing Student Work in EnlightenAI

Import student work into EnlightenAI from Google Classroom, Illuminate, Canvas, Google Forms, CSV, or Word — and grade it with your rubric.

Written by Gautam Thapar

Already collected student work somewhere else? You don't have to start over. EnlightenAI imports work from Google Classroom, Illuminate (Renaissance DnA), Canvas, Google Forms, spreadsheets, Word docs, or a simple copy-paste — then grades it with your rubric just like work submitted on the platform. Here's how.

At a glance: Add assignment → Import and grade work → choose the source (Illuminate, Google, Canvas, Forms/CSV, Docx, paste) → Continue → grade.

Step 1. Choose "Import and grade work"

Have work students already turned in somewhere else? On your dashboard, click Add assignment, then choose Import and grade work to pull it into EnlightenAI for grading.

Step 2. Tell EnlightenAI where the work lives

Pick where the student work is stored: Google Classroom, Illuminate (Renaissance DnA), Canvas, Google Forms / CSV / Excel, a Docx file, or copy-paste. EnlightenAI imports and organizes the responses so you can grade them with your rubric — exactly like work submitted on the platform.

Step 3. Import and start grading

Select your source and click Continue. EnlightenAI pulls in the responses and organizes them by student, then drops you straight into grading — calibrate the AI on a few, let it grade the rest, and review. (Google Classroom and Canvas connect through their secure sign-in.)
