Collected student work in a Google Form, a quiz tool, or a spreadsheet? You don't have to retype anything — EnlightenAI imports the responses, organizes them by student, and takes you straight into grading with your rubric. This guide walks the whole flow for a Google Form or CSV/Excel file, all the way to the grading screen.
At a glance: Add assignment → Import and grade work → Google Forms/CSV/Excel → upload your file → pick the response column → confirm submissions → grade.
Step 1. Choose "Import and grade work"
Have work students already turned in somewhere else — a Google Form, a quiz export, a spreadsheet? On your dashboard click Add assignment, then Import and grade work to pull it into EnlightenAI for grading.
Step 2. Pick where the work lives
Choose where the responses are stored. For a Google Form, export the responses to a spreadsheet first (in Google Forms: Responses → the green Sheets icon → download as CSV). Then pick Google Forms/CSV/Excel and click Continue.
Step 3. Upload your CSV or Excel file
Drag your exported file onto this screen, or click Upload File to choose it. EnlightenAI reads the columns and organizes the responses by student.
Step 4. EnlightenAI imports the responses
Your file uploads with a green check. Click Next to choose which column holds the work you want to grade.
Step 5. Pick the column with the work to grade
Each question becomes its own column. Check the box on the column that holds the writing you want to grade — here, the argument question — and give the assignment a clear name. (Skip columns like Timestamp.) Then click Next.
Step 6. Your submissions are ready to grade
EnlightenAI turns every response into a gradable submission, organized by student — just like work submitted on the platform. Click the assignment to open it and start grading.
Step 7. Set up grading with your rubric
You land in the grading setup with every imported response confirmed. From here you grade exactly as you would any EnlightenAI assignment: attach or build a rubric, calibrate the AI on a few responses, let it grade the rest, then review and approve.
