How to Set Accommodations for a Student in EnlightenAI

Differentiate accommodations student by student in EnlightenAI: rewrite feedback at a lower reading level, enable translation, and turn on read-aloud.

Written by Gautam Thapar

EnlightenAI accommodations are set per student, so each learner gets the support they need. You can rewrite AI feedback at a lower reading level, let a student read feedback in their home language, and add text-to-speech — all from the class roster. Here's how to differentiate accommodations student by student.

At a glance: Class → Students → open a student → set reading level, translation, and read-aloud → Save.

Step 1. Open your class roster

Open the class and go to the Students tab. This lists everyone in the class. Accommodations are set per student, so you can tailor support for each learner.

Step 2. Open the student and review their options

Click the student to open their accommodations panel. You can set a reading level for feedback, turn on translation, and enable read-aloud — each one applies only to this student.

Step 3. Set a reading level for feedback

Use Reading level for feedback to have the AI rewrite this student's feedback at a grade level they can read comfortably. The AI follows the instruction reliably — use the Preview to check the result.

Step 4. Turn on translation or read-aloud

Flip on Translation so the student can toggle feedback between English and their home language, and Read aloud to add a play button to every feedback comment. Toggle on only what each student needs.

Step 5. Save the accommodations

Click Save. From now on, this student's feedback automatically uses the accommodations you set — on every assignment in this class.
