EnlightenAI does not have an "unsubmit" button. To give a student a fresh start, you have two paths depending on the assignment type: use Start Over to reset grading on a standard assignment, or grant more attempts on an Immediate Feedback assignment.
How do I reset grading on a standard assignment?
Open the assignment in the grading view and click Start Over. This clears all AI gradings and feedback for that assignment and reverts its status to ungraded, so you can re-grade from scratch.
A few things to know before you click:
Start Over resets all gradings for the assignment, not a single student.
Student submissions stay in place — only the grading and feedback are removed.
If the assignment was graded with an AI training model, that link is also cleared.
What about Immediate Feedback assignments?
Immediate Feedback assignments don't use Start Over. Instead, if a student has used all their attempts, you can add a feedback round to grant more attempts (up to a maximum of 8 total). Students who had finished are reset to active so they can revise and resubmit.
Adding attempts may use your plan's quota, since each Immediate Feedback attempt counts per student.
Can a student take back a submission themselves?
No. Students cannot unsubmit on their own. Resetting grading or granting more attempts is done by the teacher from the assignment.
