EnlightenAI accepts typed student work as .docx (Microsoft Word) and .html files, CSV or Excel spreadsheets, work pulled in from Google Docs via Google Classroom, and direct copy-paste. PDFs, images, and handwritten or scanned work are not supported — the student text must be typed.

Which formats can I upload directly?

When you upload submission files in the grading setup, EnlightenAI accepts .docx and .html files. You can add up to 200 files at once, and each file can be up to 10 MB.

What about spreadsheets and Google Docs?

If your student responses live in a spreadsheet, you can import them from Google Forms, CSV, or Excel — Excel files are converted to CSV automatically. If your students wrote in Google Docs, connect Google Classroom to bring that work straight into EnlightenAI.

Can I just paste the work in?

Yes. Choose Copy paste work and paste a student's text directly. This is the quickest option when you only have a few submissions or the work isn't in a file.

Why aren't PDFs, images, or scans accepted?

EnlightenAI reads typed text so the AI can grade against your rubric accurately. Photographed, scanned, or handwritten work — and PDFs — aren't supported for student submissions. If you have work in one of those formats, copy the text into a .docx, paste it directly, or have students type it.
