Why can't I paste text into my assignment?

Pasting into an EnlightenAI assignment may be turned off to support academic integrity. Your teacher controls this setting per assignment.

If you can't paste text into your assignment's writing editor, it's because your teacher turned on the Disable pasting setting. This is on by default to support academic integrity, so the writing you turn in is your own. You can still type your work directly into the editor.

Why is pasting turned off?

EnlightenAI lets teachers disable pasting on an assignment so students compose their writing in the editor rather than copying it in from somewhere else. When this setting is on, the assignment editor will block paste attempts.

This is an assignment-level choice. It can be on for one assignment and off for another, depending on what your teacher decided.

Can I still write my assignment?

Yes. Disabling pasting does not stop you from working — it only blocks pasting text into the editor. You can:

  • Type your response directly into the writing editor

  • Edit and revise what you've typed as much as you need

  • Submit your work normally when you're finished

Who controls this setting?

Your teacher does. Pasting is controlled per assignment in EnlightenAI, and the option to disable it is on by default. If you have a documented reason you need pasting enabled — for example, an accommodation — let your teacher know, since only they can change it.
