This is by design. When you upload a spreadsheet of student work for bulk grading, EnlightenAI automatically creates a special "grid" class and fills it with placeholder students. These students exist only to hold the work being graded, so they can't log in.
Where did this class come from?
It was created the moment you uploaded a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) of student responses. EnlightenAI turns each column of work into an assignment and each row into a placeholder student, then groups them all into a new class so the AI has somewhere to grade them. The class is named automatically after the upload (for example, "CSV-" followed by a short code).
Why can't these students log in?
Because they aren't real student accounts. EnlightenAI generates each one from a row in your spreadsheet, using:
An auto-generated name (pulled from the spreadsheet, or a fallback like "student-2" if no name was provided)
A placeholder, non-real email built from the upload ID
No password or sign-in access
They're essentially containers for the pasted work so the AI can grade it in bulk. There's no student on the other end to receive a login.
Is it safe to leave it, or should I delete it?
It's completely safe to leave. The class holds your graded results, so keep it as long as you need the feedback. If the upload is finished with and you'd rather tidy your dashboard, you can delete the class. Deleting it removes only those placeholder students and their submissions, never your real classes or rostered students.
