The Confirm submissions button is simply the first step of EnlightenAI's grading setup wizard. Clicking it moves you to the next step. It does not submit student work and it does not start grading.

What does it actually do?

Step 1 of grading setup asks you to verify which students have turned in their work. Once you've reviewed those turn-in statuses, the Confirm submissions button advances you to the next step (Add rubric). Nothing is graded yet, and students aren't affected.

What are the steps in grading setup?

EnlightenAI walks you through five steps before any AI feedback is generated:

  1. Confirm submissions — verify student turn-in statuses

  2. Add rubric — attach grading criteria

  3. Add assignment details — basic task info

  4. Instructions to AI assistant — share your expectations with the AI

  5. Final check — confirm everything before grading

When does grading actually start?

Grading only begins at the last step. On the Final check screen, the button reads Start grading (or Resume grading if some submissions are already done). That is the point where the AI starts generating feedback. Until you reach that step, you can move back and forth freely without grading anything.
