Send Feedback and Scores to Private Comments in the Google Stream

This guide walks teachers through how to send scores and feedback so they appear in each student’s Private Comments section on a Google Classroom assignment, rather than as a public announcement or only inside a Google Doc.

Step 1: Open the Finished Assignment

  1. Go to the assignment in EnlightenAI

  2. Open the assignment’s score summary / submissions view:

Step 2: Click Bulk Send Feedback

  1. At the top of the score summary screen, click Bulk send feedback.

Step 3: Choose Send Individual Announcement

A modal titled “Share feedback with the whole class” will appear.

  1. Select Send individual announcement.

This option:

  • Sends feedback individually to each student

  • Posts scores and comments directly into each student’s Private Comments section in Google Classroom

  • Does not post publicly to the class stream

Step 4: Send

  1. Confirm your selection.

  2. Send the feedback.

Each student will now see:

  • Their score

  • Your written feedback

  • A notification in Google Classroom

All feedback appears in their Private Comments thread for that assignment.

Optional: Post Feedback Directly in Student Docs

If you prefer feedback to appear inside the student’s Google Doc instead:

  • Choose Post on Google Docs (bottom-left option in the same modal)

  • This appends scores and feedback to the top of each student’s document

This is useful when feedback is tied closely to in-document writing.
